What We Do

PFPID shall invest in the following intervention areas and activities.

  1. Organizing, empowering and mobilizing PWIDs (self advocates, parents) and their organizations
    • Facilitating/supporting self advocates/parents to organize(establish organizations- Disabled People's Organizations-DPOs)
    • Supporting parents organizations/organization of the self advocates to link with the national federation (PFPID) as member organization
    • Supporting organization development of parents organizations/organization of the self advocates so as to enable them to function smoothly to fulfil their mandates, advocate for their rights
    • Enabling member organization to link with each other, and other network
    • Facilitating expansion and strengthening network of parents’ organizations/organization of self-advocates
  2. Increasing visibility and awareness (of PWIDs and their organisation and issues)
    • Campaigns
    • Promotion
    • Media mobilizations
    • Workshops
    • Training and development events
  3. Strengthening the knowledge base (conceptual understanding/technical know-how)
    • Generating/compiling wide range of data/evidences (data base, knowledge management systems)
    • Research, studies, assessments
    • Training and development events
    • Discussions, reflections sessions
  4. Developing tools, methods, materials approaches resources (that would support in developing better understanding; supporting/facilitating various actors to take appropriate action such as advocacy, access to services, delivery of services)
    • Research, study for materials/tools development
    • Development of tools kits, manuals, handbooks, reference materials, self -help book
    • Converting it to advocacy tools – stance paper, delegation notes, advocacy agendas etc)
  5. Evidence and Knowledge based Advocacy: Using the evidences and knowledge gained for effective advocacy
    • Developing materials, tools for advocacy (stance paper, claim paper, write-ups, media materials, documentaries etc)
      Developing local (district/VDC), national, regional, network
    • Fostering discussions and advocacy in at various levels and with relevant stakeholders-round table, delegations, lobby
    • Building partnerships, collaboration , alliances with like-minded organization
    • Campaigns, pressure groups
    • Civil society watch dog ( Monitoring Implementation of policy; international treaties and human rights framework such as UNCRPD domestication and shadow reporting.
