Completed training on public advocacy in Pokhara
Since its establishment, the Federation of Parents of Intellectual Disabilities Nepal has been advocating and lobbying for the rights and issues of people with intellectual disabilities, as well as developing the capacity of its member organizations and networks to advocate and lobby at the local level. Under this, a training on public advocacy was held in Pokhara on 28 and 29 August 2080 with the support of Lab Inclusion Denmark and organized by the Federation of Parents of Intellectual Disabilities Nepal. A total of 31 people, including 14 men and 17 women, from member organizations of Kaski, Myagdi, Lamjung and Chitwan participated in the training.
The training, which was organized with the aim of developing the capacity of member organizations for advocacy and advocacy at the local level, was facilitated by facilitator Nirmal Bhandari in a participatory manner through methods such as games, entertainment, group work, brainstorming, role-playing, etc. on topics such as public advocacy definition, issue identification, public advocacy methods and advocacy strategies. On the last day of the training, the participants identified issues on behalf of their organizations and developed methods and strategies to advocate for them. The participants of the training expressed their commitment to advocate and advocate on issues of disability and intellectual disability at the local level in the coming days.
