Nepal Federation of Parents of Intellectual Disabilities, increasing access to policy along with capacity development

The Federation of Parents of Intellectual Disabilities Nepal, which dreams of a dignified life in an egalitarian society by protecting the rights and interests of people with disabilities while developing their capabilities, has been implementing various programs to enhance their access to policies while enhancing their capabilities.

In this context, under a project supported by UNDP, separate programs have been organized in Karnali Province from 21st to 23rd of Magh 2081 on capacity building in advocacy and the importance of provincial policies on disability with representatives of organizations of persons with disabilities and government agencies.

 Prosperous Karnali, Dry bread Karnali people"To fulfill the long-term dream of "In order to ensure that people with disabilities can live with dignity, a discussion program was organized at the Ministry of Social Development and the Social Development Division on the importance of a provincial policy on disability. The discussion program held on 21 Magh 2081 was attended by the Minister of Social Development, Secretary, representatives of the Social Development Division, as well as representatives of the Intellectual Disability Parents' Federation Nepal, the Intellectual Disability Parents' Association and the National A total of 11 people, including representatives of the Federation of the Disabled, participated in the event. The Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Social Development clarified that there is an importance and need for a provincial policy on disability and that the provincial government and the Ministry of Social Development are positive about passing the policy if it is brought in line with facts and statistics and provincial government laws.

 Similarly, in line with the capacity building process of organizations of persons with disabilities, an advocacy training for inclusive resource distribution was organized on 22 Magh 2081. In the training, which was attended by 38 people, the facilitator clarified the topics of resource identification and advocacy, access to resources, and success. The program, which adopted methods such as presentations and group work, also shared success stories from the participants.

Similarly, 19 people, including representatives of organizations of people with disabilities and other stakeholders, participated in the program on feedback on the provincial policy on disability held on 23 Magh 2081. In that program, the first phase of feedback was taken from the participants on the draft of the provincial policy that had already been prepared.
