Refresher training on self-advocacy and rights was completed for the working committee of Intellectual Disability Association Kaski and Myagdi.
Organized by the Federation of Parents of Intellectual Disabilities Nepal and financially supported by Lab Inclusion Denmark, a training on self-advocacy and rights-related refresher training for the working committees of the Intellectual Disability Associations of Kaski and Myagdi was successfully completed in Pokhara on 14 and 15 February 2079. The training was attended by members of the working committees of the Intellectual Disability Associations of Kaski and Myagdi as well as their parents. A total of 32 people participated in the program.
Program facilitation by parents of intellectual disabilities The event was inaugurated by the General Secretary of the Federation, Nepal, Shri Ram Narayan Shrestha. The two-day event also discussed self-advocacy, its need, the rights of persons with disabilities and the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The event was made more exciting through games and entertainment. Persons with intellectual disabilities and their guardians said that they learned a lot from the event.
It is essential to organize such programs from time to time to enhance the capacity of people with intellectual disabilities and their guardians.
