Press release for solidarity
Press release
The Federation has drawn serious attention to the fact that the provincial government has not shown any interest in the policy and program presented by the Far Western Province Government for the fiscal year 2080/81, despite the fact that the demands of the disabled presented by the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal, led by the Far Western Province, were not met. The Federation has been forced to take to the streets to protest against the policy and program presented to the provincial assembly in violation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Constitution of Nepal, and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2074.
The lack of addressing the issues of persons with disabilities in the presented policies and programs, their effective, meaningful participation and inclusiveness is a mockery of democracy and human rights. The provincial government has become unresponsive despite repeated calls to formulate disability-inclusive, disability-responsive policies and programs and budgets. Expressing full support and solidarity with the peaceful relay hunger strike and constructive vigilance organized by the Disability Rights Promotion Struggle Committee against the discrimination against persons with disabilities by the Sudurpaschim Provincial Government, it is the responsibility of the state to fulfill the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Constitution of Nepal and the international commitments made by the state regarding persons with disabilities. The National Federation of the Disabled Nepal strongly demands that the demands presented by the Sudurpaschim Province be addressed as soon as possible.
